Lipscomb's Lady Bisons, the leader in the Atlantic Sun, finished their trip to Georgia on a strong note Saturday afternoon with a 56-51 victory over Mercer
The Lady Bisons are 6-1 in the A-Sun, 9-4 overall.
A 3-pointer by Lipscomb's Lynn Roller opened the scoring for the game. The Lady Bisons, sparked a 10- run, took a 31-27 lead into the dressing room at the half. The Lady Bisons led by as many as 12 points in the half.
Mercer played a scrappy second half, cutting the lead to one point at on two occasions. The Lady Bisons played solid defense, and got another key basket from Roller down the stretch to seal the victory.
Courtney Boynton once again led the Lady Bisons in scoring with 14 points. She also added five rebounds, four assists and two steals, a typical all-around performance for the senior wing player. She also was 4-for-4 from the line keeping her NCAA free throw leading percentage. She has yet to miss a free throw in an Atlantic Sun game this season.
Penny Jones led the Lady Bisons in rebounding with six.
Defensively, the Lady Bisons held Mercer to 28.6 percent shooting from the field. Mercer's leading scorer, Jessica Miler, did not get a point, missing all eight of her shots from the field.
The Lady Bisons shot 44.2 percent from the field.
Mercer fell to 3-3 in the conference, 5-8 overall.
