The Lady Bisons split a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference games with Belmont Wednesday, winning the first game 4-1 in eight innings and losing the second game 6-1.
Due to wet grounds on Belmont's home field at Aquinas College, the games were moved to Draper Diamond on the Lipscomb campus.
Belmont tied the game in the fourth inning on a solo home run down the right field line by designated hitter Renae Beauchman.
The game remained tied until the eighth inning when the Lady Bisons scored three runs to seal the win.
Heather Collins doubled to left field to start off the inning. Kate Richards sacrificed Collins to second. Kim Jacobson singled to left center to score Collins. Leigh Little singled to left field to advance Jacobson to second. Bails doubled to score Jacobson. Julia Davidson grounded out to the shortstop allowing Little to score the final run.
Bails had four hits in five trips to the plate. Jessica Wilson and Meek each had two hits. The Lady Bisons had 13 hits against Belmont pitcher Jennifer Batte who pitched all eight innings.
Meek also went the distance for the Lady Bisons. She gave up five hits, walked one and struck out three to raise her record to 9-16.
In game two Belmont scored twice in the second inning, once in the fourth and three times in the fifth inning.
The Lady Bisons lone run came in the fifth inning. With one out Ashley Villalpando walked. Richards was safe at first on a fielder's choice. Villalpando was thrown out at second. Falon Catalano singled to right field and moved to third on an error by the right fielder. Richards scored on the play.
The game was called in the top of the sixth inning due to darkness. Bails batted for the Lady Bisons and grounded out to shortstop.
Jacobson, 3-7, started for the Lady Bisons, pitching 4.2 innings. She gave up 10 hits and six runs, five earned. She walked one and struck out three.
Allison Tyree closed out the game for the Lady Bisons pitching one-third of an inning.
Sammi Parks, 7-7, pitched all 5.1 innings for Belmont. She gave up only two hits and one unearned run. She struck out three and walked one.
The Lady Bisons are 14-32, 4-12 in the A-Sun. Belmont is 15-30-1, 3-15 in the conference.
The Lady Bisons return to Draper Diamond Sunday afternoon at 1 to face Mercer in an Atlantic Sun doubleheader.
