Lipscomb University volleyball coach Brandon Rosenthal has announced the addition of Cara Wilber, a transfer from West Virginia University.
Wilber sat out last season, and will be a red-shirt freshman for the Lady Bisons.
"I am very excited about the addition of Cara to our 2005 recruiting class," Rosenthal said. "Cara is a great athlete and will bring a lot of experience to the team. As an outside hitter Cara is very strong and will be competing for one of two starting outside hitting positions. She has a tremendous work ethic and also posses a passion for the game that is ever so important."
Wilber is a native of Georgetown, Calif., where she played volleyball at Golden Sierra High School in Garden Valley, Calif., and for the Gold Cal Juniors 18-Black club team.
In 2003 Wilber was named Second Team All-Metro Sacramento. She won her team's "Best Offense" award. She was named to the California State Division IV Finals All-Tournament Team.
Her high school team was the District IV Champion in 2003 with an undefeated regular season. The team finished second in the CIF State Championships after winning the Nor-Cal Division IV Championship.
Other awards include her team's "Best Offense" Award in 2001 and "Best Defense" Award in 2000.
She was named All-League in 2002 and 2003.
Wilber also should feel at home in the Music City. She has won a number of awards for her a cappella singing.
She is the daughter of Danelle and Craig Wilber.
