This Saturday the Lipscomb women's cross country team will be competing in the NCAA Region Championships. Candice Cox, Deanna Edwards, Ruth Mick, Elizabeth Schall, Samantha Wood, Susan Worden, and Amanda Wright will all be running races for the Lady Bisons.
This year the Lady Bisons finished 7th overall in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.
"We had a little bit of a set back at conference," said Lipscomb cross country coach Clay Nicks.
Despite a frustrating finish at the Conference championships, the team is looking forward to competing in the Region Championships.
"We had a very good season and this is a great way to extend our season," said Nicks. "They will be competing against some very tough competition, but I am sure that they will do their best."
The NCAA Region Championship is comprised of all of the Division I teams in the states of Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi.
Matt McWhirter and Eric Brown will run for the Bisons as they try to gain individual championships.
After last year's disappointing 9th place finish in the A-Sun Conference, the men were much improved this year and finished in 5th place. While they will only be sending two men to the Region Championship, the men should be congratulated on a great season.
The NCAA Region Championship will take place at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
