One road victory in the Atlantic Sun in volleyball in one weekend is nice. Two road victories in less than 24 hours in the same weekend is even nicer.
The Lady Bisons after beating Mercer 3-1 in Macon, Ga,, Friday night, took the trip to Stetson in Deland, Fla., Saturday and swept the match 3-0 by scores of 30-21, 32-30 and 30-23.
"The time line for this trip was incredible," said Lipscomb coach Brandon Rosenthal. "We knew it was going to be a hard trip and it lived up to our expectations.
"We drove back to Atlanta after the game. We got up at 5:45 a.m. and board the plane at 8 a.m. We arrived in Florida at 9:30 and rove 1 ½ hours to Deland. We ate lunch and played the match. There was no down time."
The Lady Bisons had a solid start, but faded a little in game two before rallying for the win.
"We took control in game one," said Rosenthal. "In game two we were off a little, but you had to keep that in perspective. We started a little slow in game three and I challenged them."
Rosenthal expected a long trip, but the payoff was huge.
"Winning two conference games to start out sets the tone," said Rosenthal. "It has allowed us to take a deep breath especially after losing 11 straight. It shows us that what we have been doing has been proper." The Lady Bisons are 6-11 and 2-0 in conference play. Stetson is 5-12 and 0-2 in the A-Sun,
Stetson's sports information office had computer problems during the match and stats from the match are not available.
