The Lipscomb Lady Bisons cross country team finished third over the weekend in the Powerade Opener at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
Susan Worden led the way for the Lady Bisons, covering the two-mile course in 11:55.
"The race went really well," said Worden. "I am proud of our girls this year. We have a lot of new faces on the team. I feel that as the season progresses our team will only get stronger." The Lady Bisons placed three runners in the top 10 with Elizabeth Schall finishing seventh with a time of 12:02 and Samantha Wood in ninth with a time of 12:07.
"The Lady Bisons exhibited stronger depth at UTC than at the Belmont Opener," said Lipscomb coach Karen Robichaud. "If our fourth and fifth runners keep fortifying our performances we will have our best cross country season to date."
Rounding out the times for the Lady Bisons were Anna Day in 22nd place (12:46), Carolyn Latham in 24th (12:50), Julie Alley at 30th (13:01), Amanda Tanner in 35th place (13:18), Erin Pyles in 36th (13:23) and Rachel Snider in the 39th spot with a time of 13:36.
The host University of Tennessee-Chattanooga won the event. Samford was second. Auburn University finished fourth followed by Middle Tennessee State University in fifth and Tennessee State in sixth.
