Freshman forward Miguel DaSilva scored two goals, but the Lipscomb Bisons couldn't overcome a four-goal first half effort from Georgia State in a 4-3 loss Sunday afternoon at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
DaSilva's performance was the first multiple goal game by a Lipscomb player this season and the first since Ben Page scored two goals on Oct. 6, 2006 in a 2-2 tie with Mercer at home.
Page, a senior forward, picked up an assist on the first DaSilva goal when his shot bounced off the left post, setting up the rebound shot for the goal 12:59 to cut Georgia State's lead to 2-1.
Georgia State jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with two goals from Floreal Pedrazo at 8:59 and 11:09.
Before intermission Georgia State would score two more times with goals by Brian Forero at 37:04 and Tobias Nagy at 40:25,
DaSilva scored his second goal of the game in the second half at the 46:32 mark with an assist from senior forward Jorge Suarez.
Freshman defender Garrett McLaughlin closed out the scoring with his first collegiate goal at 59:29. Page earned the assist.
The Bisons finished with 35 shots and 13 shots on goal, both season highs. DaSilva led with both nine shots and four shots on goal.
Defensively, the Bisons held Georgia State to only 15 shots, eight shots on goal.
The Bisons fell to 0-4 on the season, suffering their first loss at home. Georgia State is 1-1-1.
