The Lipscomb Lady Bisons first trip to USC Upstate will be one they will won't to put out of their memories.
On Jan. 21 the Lady Bisons beat USC Upstate 82-47 at Allen Arena. Upstate earned a level of revenge Monday night with a 69-53 win over the Lady Bisons in an Atlantic Sun game at the G.B Hodge Center.
The first half was close with the Lady Bisons taking a 21-20 lead with 2:49 left before intermission on a lay-up by freshman forward Cree Nix.
USC Upstate, however, led 26-24 at the half.
In the second half the Lady Bisons led 40-38 with 11:30 left to play when Nix once again scored on a lay-up.
But USC Upstate went on a 26-4 run to lead 64-44 with 2:19 remaining and sealed the victory.
Nix led the Lady Bisons with 14 points, her second game in a row to score that total and the third time this season. She hit six-of-12 from the field and two-of-two from the free throw line.
Also scoring in double figures for the Lady Bisons were junior center Katie Rollins with 11, hitting five-of-10 from the field. She also added two blocks.
The Lady Bisons held a 41-31 edge on the boards with Rollins and senior guard Dana Carrigan each grabbing six rebounds each.
Guard Courtney Hawkins scored a game-high 26 points for USC Upstate. Forward Shanea Wyant added 20 and Jessica McGlothlen tossed in 11.
Ebony Johnson hauled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Lady Bisons are 6-21 overall, 4-9 in the A-Sun. USC Upstate won its first A-Sun game to raise its record to 1-12, 5-21 overall.
