Nashville, TN - After a weekend full of rainy weather, the Lady Bisons used blue skies and sunshine, not to mention a pair of home runs, to defeat the visiting Camels of Campbell University at Draper Diamond Monday.
Sara Simons started the scoring off in the first inning, reaching on a single to right field, and coming across the plate two batters later on wild pitch.
Campbell came back in the second inning with a home run by Courtney Quinn that bounced off the center field fence.
Sophomore shortstop Abby Keese belted a solo shot over the left field fence in the third inning to take the lead. It was her twelfth of the season.
Sophomore designated player Kelly Sirus added a shot over the left field fence in the fifth inning.
Campbell fought back picking up one run in a rundown in the top of the seventh but it wasn't enough with Abby Keese catching a diving line drive to end the game with runners in the corners.
Lipscomb notched seven hits in game one including two from Kellie Sirus, who went 2 for 3 with one run and one RBI.
Senior pitcher Kim Jacobson struck out seven Camels, and scattered seven hits to earn the win for the Lady Bisons. Her record improves to 4-3. Lipscomb improves to 17-21 and 8-5 in the A-Sun.
