The Lady Bisons defeated cross-town rival Tennessee State 4-3 on Tuesday at Tiger Field to improve to 28-22 on the season.
On the first pitch of the game, sophomore centerfielder Lauren Dortwegt hit a double through the left side, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by senior right fielder Sara Simons and scored on a sacrifice fly by senior first baseman Heather Collins.
The Lady Bisons threatened to score again in third inning, loading the bases to bring up slugger Abby Keese who lined out to the centerfielder.
Simons knocked a double to right field to score Campbell and Allsup and advance Dortwegt to third base.
One batter latter in a double steal Simons stole second and Dortwegt stole home plate to earn what would eventually be the winning run.
The Tigers roared back in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring three runs on a loaded bases double by Brittany Webb.
Their comeback would fall short, with sophomore Alaina Jacobson pitching 1.1 innings of relief to earn the save.
The Lady Bisons totaled for ten hits in the game with Dortwegt, Simons, and Campbell getting two apiece.
