DELAND, FLA._ The Lady Bisons second game in the A-Sun tournament proved to be a pitchers duel between the top two pitchers in the conference. Unfortunately, Stetson's Amanda Lindsey was able to outlast Lipscomb's Alaina Jacobson and send the Lady Bisons home for the second year in a row.
Both pitchers pitched all seven innings, but Lindsey was able to strikeout six Lady Bisons to lead her team to the win.
The Dolphins jumped out to an early lead in the first inning with third baseman Lindsey Wightman hitting an RBI single to score second baseman Nicole Forbes.
Even though they placed runners in scoring position in the first two innings, the Lady Bisons would have to wait till the bottom of the fifth inning to score their first run.
In the top of the seventh inning, Stetson pitcher Amanda Lindsey knocked a solo-shot over the center field fence to knot the game at 2-2 and centerfielder Amy Joyce sent a single up the middle to score right fielder Amy Peters and take the lead 3-2.
Lipscomb placed two runners on base again in the bottom of the seventh but could not hit them in.
The Lady Bisons had five hits in the game, including two from senior first baseman Heather Collins, but left ten runners on base.
The loss to Stetson ends the Lady Bisons season. They head home to Nashville with a 29-26 record, their best ever and a share of the regular season championship.
