The Lady Bisons took the opposition to the limit, but fell short for the second time Friday in the Comfort Inn and Suites Invitational at Morehead State in Morehead, Ky.
After losing 3-2 in the first match of the season to Western Illinois, the Lady Bisons fell 3-2 to Indiana State in match two at Wetherby Gym.
The Lady Bisons lost set one 25-18 and rallied to win set two 25-15 and set three 26-24. Indiana State tied the match with a 25-22 win in set four. The Lady Bisons battled back in set five but fell short 16-14.
Indiana State evened its record at 1-1 with the win.
For the second time Alex Kelly had a match high with 19 kills against Indiana State. Also in double figures in kills for the Lady Bisons were Erin Pierce and Katie Rose with 12 each and Katie Bradley with 11.
Kelly also led the Lady Bisons with a .359 hitting percentage.
Sarah Snider made a match-high 26 digs. Pierce posted her first double-double of the season adding 15 digs. Stefine "Jake" Pease added 14.
Pease made a match-high three service aces.
Sarah Agnich was the only Indiana State player in double figures in kills with 13.
Kristy Cox made 22 digs and Kelli Whitaker chipped in with 21.
The Lady Bisons, 0-2, will play tournament host Morehead State Saturday at 2.
