MACON, Ga. - Lipscomb's Garret Pettis speared the offense with three goals to win his first Player of the Week award. On the defensive side, Aaron Johnson allowed only one goal to lead the Camels to a 4-0 mark in conference play to win his second Defensive Player of the Week award, the conference office announced on Monday.
The senior goalkeeper allowed only one goal in two games as the Camels ran their win streak to four, all against conference opponents. The St. Charles, Mo., native had six saves in his third shutout of the year, a 3-0 blanking of UNF, then had four stops in Campbell’s 2-1 win over Jacksonville in a battle of league unbeatens. For the season he has started 11 games, played 1,002 minutes, has three shutouts and a 1.08 GAA.
Pettis, the freshmen forward, scored three goals this weekend as the Bisons beat ETSU 2-1 and USC Upstate 4-1. He scored two in the Upstate win. The Elizabethtown, Pa., native leads the A-Sun in goals (8) and points (17).
The Bisons and Fighting Camels will face off at Eakes Athletic Complex on Thursday. Both teams are unbeaten in A-Sun play.
