The Lipscomb Bisons played their second home non-conference match of the year Friday Feb. 13, losing a close match to the University of Tennessee-Martin by a 4-3 score.
"We actually played UT-Martin in the Fall, and lost (7-0) -since we came back this match and lost 4-3, I think it's a sign we're getting better," said coach Andrew Harris.
The Bisons started off clinching the doubles point to secure a lead. James Murrell and Chad Pierron defeated Alfredo Krywacz and Matt Harris 8-6. Joe McArdle and Andy Mizell defeated Peter Markos and Shanto Tsukiwama 8-5.
Lipscomb had a tough time clinching their singles matches. Singles winners for the Bisons were Bruno Melibeu, who defeated Matt Harris 6-3, 6-2. Josh Cummings defeated Tsukiwama 6-1, 6-0.
"This match was more of us just learning how to win, said Harris. "We just have to learn how to finish off opponents."
The Bisons will travel to Dayton, Ohio this weekend for the Dayton Collegiate Tournament.
Lipscomb's next home match is Feb. 26 versus Abilene Christian. Match location and time are to be announced.
