Monday, September 21, 2009MACON, Ga. – On Monday, the Atlantic Sun Conference announced its weekly volleyball award with Stefine “Jake” Pease of Lipscomb winning the Player of the Week.
The Lady Bisons swept FGCU and Stetson on the road to remain unbeaten in the A-Sun. Pease, the quarterback of the offense, deftly distributed the ball in an effective inside-outside attack. She passed the 3,000-assist mark over the weekend, pushing her total to 3,037 for her career. Pease ranks seventh on the Atlantic Sun all-time assists list. In Lipscomb’s three-set win against FGCU, Pease tallied 35 assists, 11 digs, one kill and one service ace.
The junior, from Berryton, Kan., earned Preseason All-Conference Team honors after a stellar 2008 season in which she made the First-Team All-Atlantic Sun, the A-Sun All-Tournament Team and earned Academic All-Conference. Pease also ranked 89th in the NCAA in assists per set (10.12), first in the A-Sun in assists (1,235, 10.12 per set) and first in A-Sun matches only in assists (762, 10.44).
