Monday, October 05, 2009MACON, Ga. - Preseason Player of the Year Alex Kelly lifted Lipscomb to two road wins and the first 9-0 start seen in Atlantic Sun volleyball since ETSU in 2006 to earn the fourth Player of the Week award of her career, the conference office announced on Monday.
In a pair of road contests, Kelly, the reigning A-Sun Player of the Year, helped the Lady Bisons extend their regular-season conference win streak to 14. On Friday in Lipscomb’s 3-2 win at ETSU, the junior from Kansas City, Mo., registered a double-double with 16 kills and 19 digs.
One day later in Buies Creek, N.C., Kelly set a team season-high with 25 kills in a 3-1 win at Campbell in the A-Sun Match of the Week. She added 12 digs and also set Gore Arena highs for kills, total attacks (51), and points 28.5. The marketing major leads the conference and ranks 13th in the nation in kills per set at 4.47.
