The Lady Bisons won 25-20 in the first set, 25-19 in the second and 25-22 in the third.
“We were behind in set three 19-16 when I called my last time out,” said Lady Bisons coach Brandon Rosenthal. “We got the next two points and it was 21-20 when they called a timeout.
“We didn’t want to stay and play another set. It was nice to win a 3-0 set again.”
Junior middle hitter Alex Kelly made a match-high 19 kills with a .441 hitting percentage. She also had one service ace, six digs and two blocks.
Meghan Hinemeyer, a junior outside hitter, finished with 15 kills, a match-high .464 hitting percentage, seven digs and one service ace.
“Getting 19 kills in a three-set match is pretty impressive,” said Rosenthal. “We did a nice job overall offensively.
“We did what we wanted to do with the ball. I’m pleased with where we are right now.”
Freshman outside hitter Kaycee Green added 10 kills.
Sophomore libero Katie Rose tied for the match lead in digs with 11.
The Lady Bisons, who set a season-high for kills in a three-set match with 57, are 14-3 overall. Murray State fell to 3-13.
“Murray State does a nice job offensively,” said Rosenthal. “We just had to bear down and be more disciplined. They are going to give teams a lot of trouble as the season goes on.”
The Lady Bisons close out the first round of the Atlantic Sun round robin Friday night when USC Upstate visits Allen Arena.
