Saturday, February 27, 2010The Lipscomb Bisons baseball team is still searching for its first win of the season after falling 10-1 at Tulane Saturday afternoon in New Orleans.
Tulane scored four runs in the first, two in the second and one each in the third, fourth, seventh and eighth.
Senior right-hander Matt Bowling, 0-2, started for the Bisons. He gave up seven hits and walked three as the Green Wave scored seven runs against him, all earned.
Alex Ross, a junior left-hander, pitched 3.2 innings in relief. He scattered eight hits, walked one and struck out one. He gave up two runs, both earned.
Junior right-hander Mike Grace closed out the game for the Bisons. In two innings he gave up one hit, walked one and struck out two. The Green Wave scored one run against him but it was unearned.
The Bisons managed only four hits. Junior catcher Matt Brewer came off the bench and had two hits. Senior second baseman Andrew Nickerson had the big hit for the Bisons with a solo home run to left field with two outs in the fifth inning. Shortstop Kyle Henry had the other hit for the Bisons.
Sunday morning at 11 the Bisons, 0-5, close out the series with Tulane, 4-2, at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. Sophomore right-hander Davey Hackett will start for the Bisons.
