Several Bisons active in wood bat leagues this summer

Several Lipscomb baseball players are active in wooden bat leagues around the country this summer.

Lipscomb first baseman Tennyson Dodd is playing summer league baseball for the Niagara Power. He hit the first home run of the season for the team Sunday, June 27, in a 5-1 win at Geneva. The ninth inning homer was his second RBI of the game; He singled home a run in the first inning.

The team is based in Niagara Falls, N.Y. and is part of the New York Collegiate Baseball League. The team is also affiliated with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

In the Cotton States League based in Mississippi outfielder Lee Wilson is playing for the Tallahatchie Rascals and pitcher Josh Chism is on the roster for the Tippah County Tribe.

Through games of June 28 Wilson is batting .258 with two doubles and two triples in nine games, all as a starter. He has a .452 slugging percentage.

Chism has an 0-0 record and 1.00 earned run average. In 10 innings he has struck out nine batters and walked four.

Several Bisons are participating in the Valley Baseball League which is based in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Pitchers Davey Hackett, Dannie Strable and Mike Grace are on the staff for the Front Royal Cardinals.

Hackett has a 0-2 record with a 6.00 ERA. He has made four appearances, all as a starter. In 15 innings he has allowed 19 hits and 14 runs. He has walked 12 and struck out 11. Teams are batting .302 against him.

Strable is 0-0 with 5.06 ERA. He has made four appearances, all as a reliever. In 5.1 innings he has given up nine hits and four runs. He has walked six and struck out two.

Grace is 1-0 in eight appearances out of the bullpen. He has a 2.84 ERA. In 19 innings he has allowed 11 hits and eight runs. He has struck out 18 batters and walked two. He has held batters to a .169 average.

Chris Nunn is pitching for the Winchester Royals in the Valley Baseball League. He is 0-0 with an 11.20 ERA. He has made seven appearances, two as a starter. In 13.2 innings he has scattered 19 hits and given up 17 runs. He has walked 12 and struck out 18. Batters are hitting a combined .339 against him.
