Wednesday, March 02, 2011The Lipscomb Athletics Department has announced its promotional schedule for the 2011 baseball season, which will feature many new attractions at Ken Dugan Field this spring for all Bison fans attending games. This season’s promotions will be similar to what Minor League Baseball offers, including the following, Faith Nights, Alumni Night, Little League Night, Family Day, Fan Appreciation Day, Military Appreciation Night and Throwback Tuesdays.
In addition to the Atlantic Sun Conference home schedule, the Bisons non-conference schedule features opponents from the Southeastern Conference (Tennessee, Mississippi State), Big Ten (Purdue), Ohio Valley (Austin Peay, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech, UT-Martin), Sun Belt (Western Kentucky, MTSU), Conference USA (Marshall), Missouri Valley (Bradley), Atlantic-10 (Dayton) and Southwest Athletic Conference (Alabama A&M). Following the regular season, Lipscomb University will host the A-Sun Conference Tournament for the second consecutive year at beautiful Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium.
Lipscomb hosts Mississippi State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 16 in what will be designated as the first of two “Faith Night’s.”
The second “Faith Night” will occur one week later as the Bisons host in-state rival Tennessee on Wednesday, Mar. 23.
Throwback Tuesday’s will begin on Mar. 29th when Lipscomb takes on the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee. The Bisons will be sporting their retro and throwback uniforms during the four-scheduled Throwback Tuesday’s. The game against Middle Tennessee on the 29th is designated as Military Appreciation Night.
The April 3rd game against North Florida has been designated as “Family Night” where all families with a church bulletin in hand will be granted free admission.
April 5th game versus Tennessee Tech has been tabbed as “Think Pink Night” in honor of raising awareness about Breast Cancer Awareness. The Bisons will be donning their pink jerseys that night.
The April 12th game against Alabama A&M will be “Student Social Group Night” and all fans in attendance will get hot dogs for one dollar.
Friday, April 15 will be designated as “Grandparents Night” as the Bisons will host the Spartans of USC Upstate at 6 p.m. All grandparents accompanied by their grandchild, will receive free admission to the game.
The Bisons will host cross-town rival Belmont in a three-game “Battle of the Boulevard” series at Dugan Field April 29-May 1. The opening game against the Bruins on Friday night will be designated as “Student Appreciation Night”. The Saturday game against Belmont will be “Scout Day” while the series finale on Sunday will be “Family Day”.
The following weekend after the Belmont series, the Bisons will host Campbell for three games. The Campbell series includes a special Mother’s Day Sunday celebration with all mother’s receiving flowers and free ticket to the series finale.
The Bisons will conclude the 2011 home schedule the weekend of May 13-15, with a three-game series against Stetson. The Friday night series opener versus the Hatters will be Little League Baseball Night to go along with Senior weekend festivities and team autograph signings.
