Paul Hembree played tennis for Lipscomb from 1939-1941. At the proud age of 89, he has the honor of being one of Lipscomb's oldest athletes. Retired and living in Brentwood, Paul recently visited with Andy Lane, Executive Director of the National Bison Club to reminisce about his athletic days at Lipscomb.

Lipscomb men's tennis signee Stuart Tierney won the Oregon 6A state championship last week in a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Tierney will begin at Lipscomb this fall.

Eight Lipscomb University athletic teams received perfect NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores and twelve teams exceeded the national average for private schools in the latest report issued Tuesday by the NCAA.

Lipscomb tennis coach Andrew Harris announced the addition of Stuart Tierney and Daniel Hernandez to the Bisons program on Wednesday. Both Tierney and Hernandez signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Bisons, joining the team at the start of the 2011 Fall semester.

After opening conference play with a win over Mercer on Friday, the Bisons picked up their second A-Sun win on Saturday, defeating Kennesaw St. 5-2. The back-to-back wins awarded the Bisons are one more A-Sun victory than all of the 2009-2010 season.

The Lipscomb men's tennis team competed in one of their final tournaments of the fall season when they traveled to the University of Kentucky (UK) over the weekend, picking up six singles wins in Lexington in the USTA Ohio Valley Regionals.

George McIntosh was a tennis and basketball player at Lipscomb and later served as the tennis coach. He is the president of the Jim Wood Golden Bison Club, part of the National Bison Club, that meets each month in the Hall of Fame room at Allen Arena.
