Welcome to the updated digital home of the Bisons and Lady Bisons. We encourage you to take a few minutes and look around.
Our previous site was launched July 1, 2007. While it was four short years ago, it was nearly an eternity in the digital age. Social media was in its infant stages at the time. We added Facebook and Twitter feeds to the site as they became available and we were the first school in the Atlantic Sun Conference to offer videos integrated with our stories and headlines.
This spring we began the initial design process on the new site. This starts with looking at hundreds of websites around the country and creating a "best practices" list. Then we laid out how we thought the site should be configured. Our web partners at Streamline Technologies used graphic designers to develop the graphical feel. Once we agreed on a design, Streamline begins the coding process.
College athletic websites can be extremely complicated because they are very dynamic with news, schedules, and rosters that need to be seamlessly delivered in multiple formats across the site. Not only is the end user experience of the website much more updated, this site has a whole new back-end content management system which allows us to deliver better content to you. As we get into the fall sports, you will notice that preview articles, box scores, and game recaps all link together in both stories and schedules.
Websites are never a finished product. Over the next few weeks you may notice as we do a few touch ups. Our first big addition will be a mobile site set to launch in August with full functionality of our desktop site including news, schedules, rosters, video content, and standard pages.
The goal of this site is to support our fans and our teams. With the ever-shrinking coverage of the traditional media, we want to make LipscombSports.com your first stop to learn about Lipscomb athletics. Additionally, websites are taking a bigger stage in the recruiting process and we want to make sure that potential student-athletes can learn about the Lipscomb campus and community online.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments – because if you’re not visiting the site, then we’re not doing our job.
