With the start of the 2011-12 school year later this month, Lipscomb baseball head coach Jeff Forehand announces 14 newcomers including eight Tennessee natives for the 2012 season.
“Our signing class this fall is one we are really excited about,” remarked Forehand. “It’s a little larger than most years but this year we have a good mix of junior college players and high school players coming in. It’s a very good mix and adding some depth in a lot of places.
The class is made up of six junior college transfers and eight newcomers straight out of high school. Right-handed pitcher Tyler Burstrom (Chattanooga State Community College), infielder Gray Hutchinson (Cleveland State Community College), right-handed pitcher Jacob Knott (Seminole State College of Florida), outfielder Zach Lowery (Gordon College), infielder Aaron Sandoval (Otero Community College) and catcher Taylor Stewart (Volunteer Community College).
“I’m excited about the experience the junior college guys bring and hope they can step in as quick as they get here,” said Forehand. “We’ve got some very good freshmen that we’ve signed and that we’ve recruited for a very long time. We’re excited about them being here.”
The eight high schoolers are infielder/outfielder Tyson Ashcraft (Brentwood – Brentwood HS), outfielder/left-handed pitcher Geordie Carlson (Nolensville – Ravenwood HS), infielder Joey Cecere (Acworth, Ga. – North Cobb HS), catcher/infielder Noah Chandler (Jackson – Jackson Christian), right-handed pitcher Jaesung Hwang (Cumming, Ga. – South Forsyth HS), infielder/outfielder/right-handed pitcher Griffin Moore (Lascassas – Oakland HS), right-handed pitcher Austin Schubert (Columbia – Spring Hill HS) and infielder Brandon Thomas (Clarksville – Clarksville HS).
The Bisons are slated to open fall camp on Sept.19th at Ken Dugan Field.
