Bringing a former a former All-America onto his staff was an easy decision for Lipscomb volleyball head coach Brandon Rosenthal, who welcomes former Lady Bisons standout Jake Pease as a graduate assistant coach for the 2011 season.
“We’re excited to have Jake join the staff,” remarked Rosenthal. “Obviously, (it’s a great thing) anytime you can add a former All-American to your staff who knows our program inside and out.”
Pease joins the Lipscomb coaching staff after a stellar career in purple and gold in which she was named a two-time honorable mention All-America by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Along with her All-America honors, Pease also earned 2010 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year honors for her play on the court.
“There’s no doubt she’s going to bring an extra level,” noted Rosenthal. “We’ve had some great work over the years and then adding one more coach to that is going to add to our ability to not only coach, but also recruit. Jakes brings this enthusiasm, this energy, this passion. Everyone that knows Jake or knows of her knows what kind of energy she brings.
A four-year starter for the Lady Bisons, Pease is no stranger to the coaching front having been the co-head coach for the Nashville One 14U team where she led the club to the 2011 Nationals and a fifth-place finish in the event held in Atlanta. As a head coach in 2009, Pease also led the Head Impact 15U team to nationals along with a 2008 nationals appearance with the Impact 14U squad as an assistant coach. Pease has also worked extensively in the Nashville area teaching local youth setters in private lessons as well as helping with the Lipscomb camps every summer.
