MURRAY, Ky. -- The Lipscomb women’s golf team got the 2011 fall season underway this week finishing eighth in a 10-team field in the “Drake Creek Invitational” hosted by Murray State in Murray, Ky.
The Lady Bisons combined to shoot a 54-hole score of 983 for a 119 over par for the event. After shooting an 80 and a 79 on Monday, sophomore Savanna Schubert carded a 75 on Tuesday to pace Lipscomb with a 234 for the tournament. Her efforts were enough for her to finish in a tie for 17thoverall in her debut as a Lady Bison.
Sophomore MacKenzy Carter finished second on the squad with a 245 (80-77-88) for a tie for 37th. Danielle Grace (82-90-82—254) ranked third among the Lady Bisons finishing in 46th while Sabrina Ferreri (85-85-90 – 259) and Casey Edwards (83-83-93—259) tied for 54th place.
Morehead's Maris Kamelgarn was the medalist with scores of 71-73-71=215. Murray State took home top team honors with an 890, nine strokes ahead of Morehead State.
