Former Lipscomb runner Wes Sherman ('91) will have his art featured in the John C. Hutcheson Gallery in Lipscomb's Hughes Center. The exhibit, entitled Humus, is an exhibition of 21st century painters. It opens Monday, Oct. 17.
The gallery is open Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., at no cost to the public. In addition, Sherman will give a free guest lecture at 7 p.m. in Ward Hall with a reception to follow.
Sherman has been painting for 19 years and has had 25 solo shows. Sherman, who grew up in Shady Valley, Tenn., received his graduate degree from Rutgers University, where he was the recipient of a Fellowship for Painting from the New Jersey Council for the Arts. His work has shown in many venues in Tennessee, including Trahern Gallery, Slocumb Galleries, The Arts Company in Nashville and various businesses and public offices. He currently lives and works in New York City.
