Thursday, November 10, 2011 MACON, Ga. – Two Lipscomb University women’s cross country runners were named to the Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference team, Wednesday, including Scholar Athlete of the Year Tessa Hoefle. Hoefle led Lipscomb in four races this season, including a team-best fifth-place finish at the 2011 A-Sun Championships that made her a first-team All-Conference honoree. That finish was the catalyst for the Lady Bisons first A-Sun cross country championship. Off the course, the sophomore carries a 4.0 grade point average in English. She is a two-time Provost’s List (4.0 GPA/semester) and two-time Lipscomb Honor Roll (3.5 GPA/semester) honoree. She is Lipscomb’s first-ever Scholar Athlete of the Year, in any sport. Hoefle is one of the leaders in the classroom on a standout women's team that boasts a 3.46 GPA. Joining her on the Academic All-Conference team is senior Ashley Lehman. She also earned first-team All-Conference honors at the A-Sun Championships, finishing just behind Hoefle in sixth. Lehman has a 3.97 GPA in Elementary Education. She is a five-time Provost’s List and six-time Lipscomb Honor Roll member, as well as a three-time Atlantic Sun All-Academic team honoree. The duo will lead Lipscomb into the NCAA South Regional, Saturday, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The race is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. Check LipscombSports.com for all the Lipscomb cross country and track and field news. |
