NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb track and field head coach Bill Taylor announced the 2011-12 track and field schedule Friday. In all, Lipscomb athletes will compete in 23 events during the six-month long season.
The Bisons begin the season Dec. 10 at the MTSU Christmas Invite and will stay local for their first after-Christmas event at Tennessee State’s Ed Temple Classic, Jan. 7.
Lipscomb will only go out of state twice in the indoor regular season: to Carbondale, Ill., for the Saluki Booster (Jan. 13-14) and to Bloomington, Ind. for the Hoosier Hills (Feb. 10-11).
The weekend of Jan. 27-29 will be busy for the Bisons. Lipscomb will travel to Johnson City for ETSU’s Niswonger Invite before returning to TSU for the a one-day meet at the Gentry Center.
The indoor season wraps up back in Johnson City for the A-Sun Indoor Championships Feb. 17-18.
The outdoor schedule begins with the UNF Spring Break Invite in Jacksonville, Fla. (March 3) and the Birmingham Southern Invite (March 10). The Bisons will be out of state in 10 of 13 outdoor meets: Samford Invite (March 16-17, Birmingham Ala.), Ole Miss Invite (March 31, Oxford Miss.), Raleigh Relays (March 30-31, Raleigh N.C.), Auburn Classic (Apr. 6-7, Auburn Ala.), Stanford Invite (Apr. 6-7, Palo Alto Calif.), Oxy Invite (May 5, Los Angeles Calif.), A-Sun Outdoor Championships (Apr. 20-21, Jacksonville Fla.), Georgia Tech Invite (May 11-12, Atlanta Ga.).
The first local outdoor meet will be March 24 on Vanderbilt’s campus for the Black and Gold Invite.
The schedule is rounded out in Tennessee with the Austin Peay Invite, Apr. 7, in Clarksville and at the Boston Moon Invite on Apr. 14, hosted by TSU.
