CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Playing their fourth game in seven days, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team dropped a 95-53 non-conference decision to No. 17 North Carolina on Wednesday night at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill.

The Lady Bisons (2-9) did not have an answer for UNC senior center Chay Shegog, who scored a career-high 26 points and added 11 rebounds for the Tar Heels (6-1). Krista Gross also added a double-double with 21-point, 11-rebound effort for North Carolina.

Lipscomb was led by junior wing Hannah Phillip, who notched a dozen points and added four boards marking the fourth-straight contest the veteran has led the squad in scoring.  Senior guard Anna Bowers added 11 points for the Lady Bisons to round out the double-figure scoring. Sophomore wing O’Neisha Smith led the rebounding effort for Lipscomb hauling in eight boards.

The Tar Heels forced the Lady Bisons into a season-high 32 turnovers which led to 33 points for the home team.  UNC held Lipscomb to 35.1 percent shooting from the floor while shooting 47.8 percent themselves.  The Tar Heels also won the rebounding battle 45-39.

The Lady Bisons get a few days off to recover from the rugged stretch continuing non-conference action on Friday, Nov. 16 hosting Southeastern Conference foe Mississippi at Allen Arena at 6:30 p.m.
