Saturday, February 04, 2012 NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s tennis team suffered their third loss of the season Friday night falling 6-1 to Evansville at Whitworth Racquet Club in Nashville. The Lady Bison dropped the doubles point early, falling 2-1. Freshman Jenny Borck and senior Elizabeth Keevil won the Lady Bison’s only doubles point, picking up a victory at No. 2 when they defeated Gaby Fifer and Emily Richardson 9-7. Freshman Deahna Welcher and sophomore Alyssa Bellini fell at the No. 1 spot, losing to Dora Kotsiou and Natasha James 8-3. At No. 3, seniors Samantha Bowman and Danielle Hansen were defeated by Aleus Dzakula and Jessica Raatz 8-3. The Lady Bison moved into singles play down 1-0. Lipscomb continued to be led by Borck, who picked up the lone singles win. Borck easily took down Richardson at the No. 3 spot, winning 6-0, 6-2. At No. 1, Bellini fell to Kotsiou 6-2, 6-2, while Welcher suffered a close three-set loss to No. 2, falling to Dzakula 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 after winning the first set. Keevil lost to James at No. 4 6-1, 6-0, while Hansen and Bowman were defeated at No. 5 and No. 6, falling to Mina Milovic and Fifer 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2, respectively. With the loss, the Lady Bison drop to 1-3 with four matches remaining before conference play begins. The Lady Bison hit the courts again Saturday at Whitworth Racquet Club facing off against Alabama A&M. Match play will begin at 7p.m. Results: Doubles: 1. Kotsiou & James (UE) def.
