Bison head to UT Martin and Evansville for midweek battles
Lipscomb
(10-15) at UT Martin (8-16) 3/27/2012 | Martin, Tenn. | Attendance: 107
Monday, March 26, 2012 NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Fresh on the heels of a three-game sweep of Atlantic Sun Conference foe Mercer, the Lipscomb baseball team is set to step back out of conference action for a pair of midweek road games at UT Martin on Tuesday night followed by a Wednesday night tilt at Evansville. “We don’t have many weeks where we have two midweek non-conference games, especially coming after a big weekend series,” said Lipscomb head coach Jeff Forehand. “We’ll hit the road for two and find out how we bounce back after an emotional weekend.” The Bison (10-17) are slated to send redshirt-freshman Will Blalock (0-1, 3.77 ERA) to the hill to take on UT Martin (7-16) junior southpaw Brendan Louzupone (0-2, 8.80 ERA). Lipscomb junior lefty Chris Nunn (0-1, 7.94) gets the nod on Wednesday to face Evansville (15-9) righty Ryan Billo (3-0, 2.78 ERA). “We know it’s going to be a tough game. UT Martin is a good team and are well coached,” said Forehand. “We haven’t been to Evansville in a while. Wes (Carroll) has got them going really well up there and that’s going to be another challenge for us. Lipscomb holds a 14-4 advantage all-time against the Skyhawks but the series has been much closer in recent years with the two teams splitting the last six games 3-3. The Bison are 3-6 against Evansville including a tough 4-3 loss earlier this year at Dugan Field in the “Mule Mix Classic” during opening weekend. |
