NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s tennis team suffered a 7-0 sweep by Atlantic Sun foe ETSU on Friday afternoon at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
"Certainly, on the women's side, we had some difficult matchups,” head coach Andrew Harris said. “I think given where we were last year compared to this year we competed much better. I like the direction we are going, for the most part, in doubles. In singles, making sure we get better in certain situations and continuing to work on our game identity will be critical. We are looking forward to Upstate tomorrow morning."
The Lady Bison fell early in the match when they dropped all three of the doubles matches.
Freshmen Jenny Borck and Deahna Welcher were defeated 8-3 by Paula Jaime and Marine Wieliczko at No. 1, while seniors Elizabeth Keevil and Danielle Hansen fell at No. 2 to Karina Kedzo and Diana Navrostska 8-4.
At No. 3, senior Samantha Bowman and sophomore Alyssa Bellini lost to Kelsey Williams and Giulia Andreazza 8-0.
Down 1-0, the Lady Bison went on to fall in each of their singles matches to the tough Buccaneers.
At No. 1, Bellini was defeated by Jaime 6-1, 6-3, while Welcher lost at No. 2 to Andreazza 6-2, 6-4.
Borck fell in a solid match at No. 3 to Wieliczko 6-3, 6-3, and Keevil lost to Kedzo at No. 4 6-3, 6-1.
At No. 5, Hansen was swept by Navrostska 6-0, 6-0, and Bowman was defeated at No. 6 by Williams 6-1, 6-1.
With the loss, the Lady Bison’s conference record drops to 1-3.
