NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Riding a six-game Atlantic Sun Conference home winning streak, the Lipscomb baseball team continues home action in the friendly confines of Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium this week hosting Kennesaw State for a three-game series beginning Thursday night at 6 p.m.
The Owls (18-12, 7-2 A-Sun) fly into the “Music City” tied atop the A-Sun standings with USC Upstate and Belmont, who are each a game ahead of Lipscomb’s mark of 6-3 in league play.
“Kennesaw’s a good team,” said Lipscomb head coach Jeff Forehand. “Every year when we get ready to play them, I know what to expect. They’re well coached and their guys are well prepared and ready for every series. It should be a good series for us this weekend.”
13-16 overall, the Bison will send senior righty Connor Sinclair (4-1, 2.82 ERA) to the hill on Thursday night against the top scoring offense in the league. The Owls are set to counter Sinclair with senior right-hander Josh Carr (6-1, 3.48 ERA), who leads the A-Sun in wins.
Lipscomb junior Blake Fonfara (2-3, 6.04 ERA) will take on fellow southpaw Zak Griffith (3-1, 1.72 ERA), who leads the A-Sun in earned run average on Friday night. The series concludes on Saturday afternoon with a battle between Lipscomb junior righty Josh Cotham (2-2, 2.79 ERA) and KSU junior lefty Kevin Kyle (0-2, 4.86 ERA).
Fans can watch all of the action of the season opener on Thursday night on ASun.TV with Justin Seamon on the call. Tickets are $5 for adults 13 and up. Children 12 and under are free of charge for all Lipscomb baseball games.
