MACON, Ga. – After helping lead the team to a 3-1 week including a series wins over Campbell, Lipscomb junior shortstop Aaron Sandoval has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.
“Aaron had a great week, we look for him to always solidify our defense first but here recently he’s been swinging the bat very well and helping out offensively as well,” said Lipscomb head coach Jeff Forehand. “He’s been very solid at shortstop and makes our team even better when he’s playing at the level he is right now in both at the plate and in the field.”
The Albuquerque, N.M., native posted a .533 average on the week at the plate as Lipscomb downed Western Kentucky on the road in extra innings on Tuesday night before taking 2-of-3 from Campbell to end the week. The junior notched six RBI on the week, driving in at least one run in all four games and scoring four times.
Sandoval is the second Bison to earn A-Sun Player of the Week honors this season joining senior infielder Zak Messer, who earned the honor last month.
