NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Tuesday the Men’s 2012 All-Academic squads. A total of 431 student-athletes representing 148 institutions were honored including Lipscomb sprinter Tucker Peabody.
Coach Bill Taylor stated “Tucker is another great example of what our program is about, excelling in every way. I am proud of his effort both on the track and in the classroom.”
Peabody, a rising junior, qualified for the NCAA Championship Preliminary Round before falling short in his bid into the national championship round in the 200m dash.
In the A-Sun championships, Peabody earned four medals including two gold, in the 200m dash and the 4X400m relay.
To qualify for the USTFCCA award, a student-athlete must possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met qualifying standards for either the indoor or outdoor season.
In the spring of 2012, the men’s track and field squad had 30 student-athletes honored by the A-Sun for their academic efforts.
