NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb men’s soccer team will kick off their exhibition slate, Thursday, Aug. 16, when they host the University of Alabama – Huntsville. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. Admission is free to all soccer matches.
The Bisons will be leaning on captains Ethan Summers and Jeremy Reid to provide leadership both on and off the field. Summers, who redshirted last season, started all 19 games two seasons ago. Reid started 14 games last season while tallying a goal and two assists.
Three other seniors will also be looked upon for leadership roles- defensemen Tyler Burkhardt, Josh Robert and Matt Shanklin.
The exhibition match will mark the first collegiate action for 13 freshmen along with the first action for the Bisons for four transfers. The transfers are defensemen Luke Gearin, Luke Salmen and Kade Morgan along with goalkeeper John Schnurbusch.
The Chargers from UAH finished last season 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the Gulf South Conference before ultimately falling in the semifinal round of the Gulf South Tournament. This is the first exhibition contest for both teams.
The Bisons will travel to Louisville to close out their exhibition slate on Monday, Aug. 20, to take on the Cardinals who advanced to the quarterfinals of the College Cup in 2011. That game begins at 7 p.m.
