(6-10, 1-4 A-Sun) at Northern Kentucky (4-9, 2-3 A-Sun) 1/11/2013 | Highland Heights, Ky. | Attendance: 2891
Thursday, January 10, 2013 HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Lipscomb men’s basketball team continues Atlantic Sun Conference play on Friday night at 6 p.m. against league newcomer Northern Kentucky at the Bank of Kentucky Center. Airing on CSS, the contest is the first meeting between the two schools since the 1971-72 season when there were three meetings with the Bisons (6-9, 1-3 A-Sun) taking 2-of-3 from the Norse (3-9, 1-3 A-Sun). The contest will mark the first visit for the Bisons to the NKU campus. The reigning A-Sun “Newcomer of the Week”, Redshirt freshman center Stephen Hurt leads Lipscomb with a 12.2 points-per-game average along with hauling in a league-best 8.5 rebounds-per-game. Hurt has won A-Sun newcomer honors three times this season and on Thursday was named the A-Sun’s Crons Achiever of the Month for his play in the month of December. Senior forward Eshaunte Jones leads the way for NKU averaging 13.8 points each night. As a team, the Norse rank last in scoring with a 55.2 point-per-game scoring average but NKU is stingy on the defensive end allowing a league second-best 60.2 points. Northern Kentucky is in their first year in NCAA Division I having made the jump from Division II at the start of the year. Along with the CSS broadcast, the game is set to air at 6 p.m. on 102.5 The Game with Jonathan Seamon handling the play-by-play duties. ESPN3 will also carry the game for those outside of the CSS footprint. |
