NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Most teams would have complained about taking the field with the temps hovering in the 30’s but the Lipscomb baseball team was fired up on Friday afternoon opening practice for the 2013 season.
The veteran Bison squad was joined by the dozen newcomers for a spirited day of drills at Ken Dugan Field.
“The first day is always fun,” said Lipscomb head coach Jeff Forehand. “The guys are always excited to be out and the energy is always good. We were not as sharp as I would have liked us to have been but that comes with the first day.
“Hopefully we can be sharper tomorrow. My biggest concern was just that we got back out and got moving again and throwing the ball around the yard a little bit.”
The Bisons will scrimmage on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. and again on Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. to get the LU pitching staff some much-needed work to knock the rust off. Both scrimmages are open to the public.
