NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Freshmen Lipscomb women’s basketball players Alex Banks and Mallory Charpentier have been named as finalists for the 15th Annual Pepsi Celebration of Champions presented by Kroger.
Recognizing the most accomplished amateur and professional athletes, Banks has been nominated for the High School Female Athletics Award while Charpentier’s high school squad, Christ Presbyterian Academy, has been nominated for the Female Team Athletics Award.
Banks, a member of the Beech High School softball team, set a single-season state record for wins with a 47-4 record, including a perfect game, two no-hitters and 25 shutouts. With a 1.36 ERA and 166 strikeouts she earned Second Team All-American honors from Maxpreps.
On the basketball squad, Banks averaged 14 points and eight rebounds per game while reaching 1,000 career point plateau.
Charpentier’s CPA basketball team captured the D-1 class AA State Championship after posting a 36-3 record. As a captain, Charpentier earned All-State honors while winning the district and state championships. Etching her name into the record book, Charpentier set the state tournament record for most assists in a game with 14.
The Pepsi Celebration of Champions presented by Kroger was created in 1999 and is Nashville’s premier sports awards event saluting amateur and professional sporting events in Middle Tennessee. The awards will be presented on March 7 at the Grand Ole Opry House.
