NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Entering the final game of the regular season, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team is looking for a win over North Florida and some help from Northern Kentucky and Florida Gulf Coast to clinch a spot in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament. Tipoff for Senior Night against the Ospreys is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Allen Arena.
In order to make the tournament, the Lady Bisons need a victory. They also need Florida Gulf Coast to beat Kennesaw state and for Northern Kentucky to beat Jacksonville. All three contests are slated for Saturday.
Senior Night will honor Hannah Phillips and Chelsea McMeans for their contributions on and off the court during their time at Lipscomb.
The Lady Bisons are coming off of a 67-55 loss to Jacksonville on Thursday. The loss saw Phillips score a career-high 25 points but a 16-point halftime deficit proved to be too much to overcome. Phillips has a team leading 13.1 points-per-game average.
Freshman Kelli Smith has offered a recent spark for the Purple and Gold. Over her last three games, Smith has averaged 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
The Ospreys run an offense that places ninth in the A-Sun, just in front of Lipscomb at 51.8 points per game. They do not place any scorers in double figures. Ki Conner averages a team-best 9.8 points per game, sinking 47 of her 87 made field goals from long range.
Saturday’s finale can be seen for free on ASun.TV.
