NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Coming off a season-opening win over rival Belmont, Lipscomb men’s soccer travels to Dayton, Ohio to take part in the Dayton Flyer Classic this weekend.

The Bisons will play Eastern Illinois in a 3:30 p.m. match on Friday, Sept. 6. On Sunday, Sept. 8, the Purple and Gold will play the host Dayton in a 1 p.m. kick-off

Lipscomb opened their season with a 3-1 win at home over Belmont last weekend. The Bisons looked strong for most of the match and did not allow a goal until the 86th minute. Atlantic Sun Player of the Week, Omar Djabi, scored two goals in the match with the first one being a game-winner.

Eastern Illinois, a member of the Summit League, was picked to finish sixth in the conference. Senior defender/midfielder Jake Plant was picked for the Preseason All-Conference first team, while Tayron Martin, forward, and Connor Bartuch, defender, earned second team honors.

EIU was supposed to begin their season last Friday at Illinois-Chicago, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Dayton, picked to finish fourth in the Atlantic-10, had freshman James Haupt named to the All-Rookie team by the conference head coaches.

Dayton enters the tournament with a 1-0-0 record, earning a 4-2 victory on the road at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. Freshman Brian Richards netted two goals in his collegiate debut for the Flyers, including the game-winner in the 79th minute.

Senior Abe Keller took five shots on the afternoon for Dayton, including three on-goal while also assisting on a pair of goals for the Flyers.

Prior to playing Lipscomb, the Flyers will matchup with Northern Kentucky on Friday night at 6:30.

The Bisons will get a free preview of NKU before they travel to the Lipscomb Soccer Complex for a conference matchup on Oct. 19.

Following the Flyer Classic, the Bisons will play in the Belmont Mafioza’s Invitational on Friday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept.15. The Bisons will take on Illinois-Chicago at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Cleveland State at noon on Sunday.
