After clinching a spot in the Atlantic Sun championship on the road Saturday, Lipscomb men’s soccer looks to build momentum with a nonconference matchup at home against the University of Evansville Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
The Purple and Gold recorded their fifth shutout victory of the season by defeating USC Upstate 1-0 on Saturday and moved into a tie for third place in the conference with ETSU.
Recording 12 points in conference play, Lipscomb stands 8-6-1, 4-2 in A-Sun play, just one point behind leaders FGCU and Northern Kentucky.
Leading the Bisons into Tuesday’s game is Omar Djabi. Djabi has scored eight goals and three assists for 19 points on the year. His goal total is first in the A-Sun and 27th nationally.
After assisting on Scout Monteith’s game-winning goal Saturday, Matt Kerridge takes over the team lead with four assists.
Micah Bledsoe recorded his fourth shutout of the season against Upstate. On the year, Bledsoe has stopped 54 balls while only allowing 16 goals in 1,368 minutes played. His goals allowed average dropped to 1.06, good enough for second in the A-Sun.
As a team, the Bisons have scored 19 goals, while allowing just 16 and have posted a 202-150 shot advantage. Lipscomb has earned 82 corner kicks, while conceding just 46 and has posted a 49-19 corner kick advantage in the second half.
The last time out for Evansville, it defeated Central Arkansas on the road, 1-0. The win improved the Purple Aces to 9-5-1, 2-2 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
EU owns a 2-0-2 all-time record against the Bisons, including a 2-1 win over Lipscomb last season.
Faik Hajderovic leads the team with 18 points. Though he has only scored two goals, Hajderovic leads the nation with 14 assists. Mark Anthony Gonzalez leads the Purple Aces with eight goals scored.
Dylan Terry is third on the squad with 15 points, five goals and five assists.
Eric Teppen guards the net for the Purple Aces. He has given up 24 goals in 1,405 minutes played while grabbing 71 saves. Teppen has two shutouts.
The Bisons jump back into A-Sun play Nov. 2 when they travel to ETSU for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
