NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Adorned in iconic, festive holiday sweaters, the Lipscomb baseball and softball teams kicked off the 2013 Christmas season on Monday night hosting the annual Front Porch Ministry Christmas party.
The two teams each reached deep into their own individual pockets to help provide the resources for 11 moms to have a Merry Christmas.
“This is one of the highlights of the year for our team,” said Lipscomb baseball head coach Jeff Forehand. “It’s a lot of fun taking these little ones out shopping and seeing the joy on their faces as they pick up things for their moms. But our team gets more out of the night than they do.”
After picking up 36 kids from the Front Porch Ministries house in North Nashville on the Lipscomb bus, the group headed to Target in Brentwood where the players helped guide the kids in selections for their mothers. Choices ranged from vacuum cleaners, to sets of pots and pans and even towels.
Once the final selections were made, everyone loaded back up for a trip to the Lipscomb campus where the massive wrapping/pizza party ensued as bows and ribbons were carefully placed on the gifts. The evening wrapped up with a special magic show before the special guests from Front Porch Ministries were dropped back off.
