NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s basketball team is set to battle Atlantic Sun foe East Tennessee State in Allen Arena Thursday night at 6 p.m.
It will be the first of the final two home regular season games for the Lady Bisons.
Lipscomb enters the contest at 5-22 overall and 2-14 in league play.
The Lady Bisons are coming off back-to-back losses to the A-Sun’s co-leaders: FGCU and Stetson.
In its last contest, Lipscomb set a school record with 18 made 3-pointers against the Hatters. Danay Fothergill led five Lady Bisons’ in double figures with 20 points.
Fothergill enters Thursday’s meeting as the A-Sun’s leading scorer at 18 per game.
Lipscomb and ETSU last met Jan. 2 in the league-opening game for both teams. The Bucs narrowly defeated the Lady Bisons 78-75. Fothergill led all scorers on that snowy night in Johnson City with 31 points.
Thursday’s meeting will be the 18th meeting in the series history in Lipscomb’s NCAA era. The Bucs have dominated the series 17-1, with the lone Lipscomb win coming inside Allen Arena Feb. 3, 2007.
Southern enters the contest just one double-double shy from tying the A-Sun’s single-season mark of 21.
Lipscomb owns the A-Sun’s second-leading offense, putting up 69.7 points per contest. ETSU is fifth at 65.7.
ETSU brings a 9-18 overall and 5-11 A-Sun record to Nashville, looking to win back-to-back games after beating North Florida 76-41 on Saturday.
Cara Bowling leads ETSU in scoring for the year, pouring in 11.2 per game. Serena Clark is the only double figure scorer for the Bucs, 10.5.
Clark also pulls down 10.1 boards per contest.
Following the matchup with ETSU, Lipscomb will host USC Upstate on Saturday for the Lady Bisons senior night. The game is set to tip at 1 p.m.
Both games will be carried live on ESPN3.
