The Lady Bisons closed out the road portion of the regular season with a 3-0 sweep of USC Upstate Saturday afternoon in Spartanburg, S.C.

It was the 21st match win in a row for the Lady Bisons. They also remained undefeated in the Atlantic Sun Conference with an 18-0 record.

The Lady Bisons beat USC Upstate 25-13, 25-20 and 25-21.

“In the first set we got out in front and controlled everything,” said Lady Bisons coach Brandon Rosenthal. “In the second set we let it get away from us at the beginning and they stayed in control until the 18 points mark. In the third set we kept a three-or-four point lead the entire set.”

Junior middle hitter Alex Kelly had a match-high 20 kills and added 14 digs. It was her third time this season to post 20 or more kills in a match. Kelly also posted a .581 hitting percentage. She added one service ace and two blocks.

“Alex did a tremendous job,” said Rosenthal. “When we needed the big plays she was able to come up with them.”

Junior outside hitter Meghan Hinemeyer had 10 kills and nine digs to go with a .296 hitting percentage.

Senior opposite Erin Pierce added 14 digs. Sophomore libero Katie Rose finished with 12.

“We didn't play a lot of defense in the second set,” Rosenthal said. “We didn't work as hard as needed to in the second set. In the third set we came back. I have always told our players I don't care who gets the digs as long as we get them.”

The Lady Bisons are 24-3, 18-0 in the A-Sun. Upstate fell to 7-21, 3-15 in the conference.

“We traveled seven hours each way to play one game,” said Rosenthal. “But we did what we needed to do.”

The Lady Bisons close out the regular season at home this weekend with a match with Campbell at 5 Friday Nov. 13 at Allen Arena and a match Saturday at 2 with ETSU. Rosenthal is giving the players Sunday and Monday off.
