Impending inclement weather has led to a cancellation of Day Two of the Lady Bison Round Robin, which had been scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
Whitney Kiihnl threw a no-hitter and Haley Elliott slammed a walk-off home to left field to lift Lipscomb to a 1-0 win over Butler in the home opener. In the second game against Samford, Kelsey Cartwright homered and Caroline Mason drove in two runs to lead Lipscomb to a 5-2 victory.
Lipscomb softball will host Butler and Samford in the Lady Bison Round Robin, beginning Saturday at 11 a.m. and continuing Sunday at 11 a.m. The Lady Bison opened the season with a 1-3 record at last weekend's Mardi Gras Invitational in Mobile, Ala.
Lipscombsports.com had the chance this week to catchup with former softball player Julia Davidson Salgueiro, who now resides in Santa Cruz, Calif.
Lipscomb junior Vanessa Medina is back for the 2012 season with her weekly blog "Nessa's News." In her season's first post, she talks about the Lady Bison's opening weekend games at the Mardi Gras Invitational.
