Lipscomb's Lady Bisons softball team earned its first Atlantic Sun Conference doubleheader sweep Friday over visiting Stetson.
The Lady Bisons won the first game 4-1 and held on to take the nightcap 9-8 at Crockett Park .
Lipscomb pitcher Danielle Catalano threw a five-hitter in the first game, striking out seven and walking two. The only run scored by Stetson was unearned.
The Lady Bisons scored all four of their runs in the third inning. Lindsay Larson started off the inning with a single through the right side. After Leigh Little struck out Julie Davidson moved Larson to second with a sacrifice bunt. Jessica Wilson walked. Larson moved to third on a wild pitch. Heather Collins rapped a single up the middle to score Larson. Jennifer Cannon then reached base on a fielding error by the third baseman which scored Wilson . Collins scored on a passed ball that also allowed Cannon to move to second. Shay Sullivan singled to center field to score Cannon.

Collins finished with a pair of singles. She was the only Lipscomb batter to get more than one hit.
Game two was highlighted by the return of Sara Meek to the mound after being sidelined for a couple of weeks following a tonsillectomy. Meeks pitched six innings, allowing 10 hits and giving up eight runs, five earned. Kim Jacobson came on in relief in the seventh inning to pick up her first save of the season.
Both teams struck for three runs in the first inning.
Leigh Little led off with a walk. Julie Davidson reached base on a bunt single, moving to second on an error by the third baseman. Jessica Wilson singled up the middle to score Little. Heather Collins walked, forcing Stetson to remove pitcher Jennifer Buckley from the game. Heather Colding took the mound, and was greeted by single through the left side by Jennifer Cannon that scored Davidson. Shay Sullivan fouled out to the third baseman, but Wilson tagged up and scored.
In the second the Lady Bisons added four runs on six hits with singles by Little, Wilson Collins, Forsythe, Niki Bails and Larson. Colding left the game for Stetson and was replaced by Jenny Diaz who pitched the final 4 2/3 innings.
The Lady Bisons added two more runs in the third to take a commanding 9-2 lead. Davidson started off with a single. Wilson reached base on an error by the third baseman. With two outs Sullivan doubled to left center to bring both Davidson and Wilson home.
Stetson picked up a pair of runs in the fifth. In the top of the seventh they gave the Lady Bisons a scare when Melissa Wiggins led off with a double to right center followed by a single to center by Lindsay Wightman. Jessica King then slammed a three-run homer to left field. That brought Jacobson in from the bullpen. She faced four batters, walking one, to close out the game.
The Lady Bison pounded out 13 hits.
The Lady Bisons raised their record to 18-18, 5-3 in the A-Sun. Stetson fell to 29-16, 7-5 in the conference.
