Simons, a graduate student in education, is a senior in terms of eligibility. She transferred to Lipscomb for the spring semester from the University of Missouri. She has received her bachelor's degree in nursing. She transferred to Lipscomb for the spring semester
She played in 31 games last season, starting 13. She batted .234 with three doubles, one home run and 10 runs batted in.
"Sara is a player we feel very, very fortunate to have on our team," Peck said. "She is a very mature player which is great to have on a young team.
"She works so hard. She has come in for one semester and has already shown she is one of our hardest workers."
Simons, 5-foot-2, is from Kearney, Mo. She is a graduate of Kearney High School. She joins sophomore pitcher Alaina Jacobson as the second transfer this season from the University of Missouri.
Peck anticipates Simons will play a major role as an outfielder and at the plate.
"We have worked with Sara in both right and left field," Peck said. "We anticipate she will be somewhere in the middle of the batting order."
"She gives us some more punch in the middle behind Abby, Heather and Kellie," Peck said. "You can add Christen Campbell and Megan Rottler to that mix. With Lauren Dortwegt leading off we will be fine in terms of the lime-up."
