Sirus drove in two runs and scored once to account for all three runs in Saturday’s 3-0 win against Kentucky in the second day of the Frost Classic hosted by Tennessee-Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Sarasota, Fla. native collected at least one hit in each game. The Lady Bisons won the tournament with a 5-0 record, adding to a 12-1 mark for the season.
Kiihnl pitched a perfect game against Austin Peay in the first round of the Frost Classic on Friday. In the 15-0, five-inning win, the sophomore struck out 13 of the 15 batters she faced. It marked the first perfect game for a Lipscomb pitcher in the NCAA era and only the second in the history of the program with the last one in 1998. Kiihnl did not allow a run in 18.1 innings, winning three games (Austin Peay, Kentucky and Kansas). Saturday, the Batesville, Ky. native shut down Kentucky, 3-0, allowing two hits and striking out 10. Kiihnl came back later in the afternoon in relief with the Lady Bisons down 3-0. In 6.1 innings, she gave up one hit and struck out 11 as the Lady Bisons rallied for a 7-3 win. Kiihnl also batted .556 with five hits in nine at bats and scored four runs.
