Myers named full-time softball assistant for Lady Bisons

Lexi Myers has been named as an assistant coach for softball for Lipscomb University.

Dr. Lin Garner, interim athletic director, made the official announcement Wednesday afternoon.

Myers, a native of Hanover, Pa., has spent the past two seasons with the Lady Bisons as a graduate assistant. She received her Master’s degree from Lipscomb in Education Administration in May 2008.

“We are very excited that Lexi Myers has joined our athletic family on a more permanent basis,” said Garner. “As a graduate assistant she played a valuable role in all aspects of our softball program and will continue to do so.  We look forward to another outstanding year in Lipscomb softball with Coach Myers’ help.”

Myers’ primary areas will be working with the Lady Bisons pitching staff and recruiting.

The Lady Bisons, under the direction of head coach Kristin Peck, were co-champions in the regular season in the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2008. They have also made back-to-back trips to the Atlantic Sun Tournament the past two seasons.

"I am really grateful for the opportunity to come back and coach at Lipscomb University,” said Myers.  “Coach Peck and I work really well together and I love coaching the great group of girls that we have on our team.

“They all have made returning to Lipscomb an easy decision for me.  I am excited about this year and looking forward to another successful year."

Myers played college softball at Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C.  She received a Bachelor’s degree in physical education, excelling on both the field and in the classroom.

She lettered four years at Campbell as a pitcher. Myers was named Campbell’s Rookie of the Year in 2003.  In 2003 she was also a member of the 2003 Cougar Classic All-Tournament team.  In 2004 she played against Greece’s Olympic softball team.

Myers was an NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete in 2004-2005 and 2005-2006. She was also a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic team in both 2005 and 2006.

Myers lives in Nashville.
